Six Simple Ways To Keep Your Pet Rabbit Happy

December 12 2025

Bunnies are undoubtedly one of the most adorable pets you can get. These little furballs are actually full of personality, and can be very fun and affectionate. Of course, Floppy does have some specific care needs. What does it take to keep your bunny happy? A La Porte, TX  vet offers some tips in this article.

Toys, Toys, Toys

Rabbits are very playful, which is one of the best things about them. They also need to chew quite a bit to prevent dental problems. Toys are a must! You can make many of Floppy’s things out of ordinary household items like plain paper and cardboard.

Great Cage

Rabbits spend a lot of time in their cages. Make sure that Floppy’s home offers her plenty of space to hop and play. You’ll also need to add bunny essentials, such as a hide box, dishes, and possibly a litterbox. Location is crucial as well. Put the cage somewhere that your bunny can see and hear you, but isn’t in the center of household commotion.

Veterinary Care

In order for Floppy to be happy, she will also need to be healthy. Regular exams and dental checkups are both crucial. Keep up with recommended vaccines, such as the R(V)HD and R(V)HD2 vaccines. Ask your vet for specific advice.

Free Time

Living in a cage can get quite dull. Your furball will become restless and unhappy if she is stuck in her cage all the time. Floppy should have plenty of free time to run and play. Be sure to do some bunnyproofing before letting your pet out of her cage.

Grooming

Bunnies are very clean, but they do need some help in this area. Brushing Floppy regularly will remove dust and dead hair from her coat. This also helps prevent her from swallowing it, which is very important. Keeping up with ear care and nail trims will also keep your furry pal comfortable.

Attention

Just like any other pet, rabbits do best when they feel loved and safe. Spend time with your furry friend! Talk to her, pet her, and play with her. If you’re doing things right, you’ll be rewarded with binkies. These are basically bunny happy dances. (We probably don’t have to tell you how cute they are.)
