Our Veterinarians

Meet the folks who make it all happen. We see big potential in every moment, and care deeply about what we do every day.

Dr. Steve Sullivan, DVM

Dr. Steve Sullivan, DVM

Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Steve Sullivan was born and raised in Pasadena and graduated from Deer Park High School (Go Fighting Deer!). He knew at a very early age that he wanted to either be a veterinarian or dig for dinosaur bones. When he matured to the ripe old age of 8, his interest in dinosaurs waned, but his passion for animal medicine did not. That was when he knew he was destined to become a veterinarian (or “vegetarian,” as he liked to say back then).

Dr. Sullivan graduated from Texas A&M University (Gig ’em, Aggies!) with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1996 and began his career as an associate veterinarian at Red Bluff Animal Hospital. In June 2005, he purchased Red Bluff Animal Hospital. Realizing he was getting way too much sleep, he bought Richey Animal Clinic in 2006.

Dr. Sullivan has been happily married since 1997. His wife works for Shell, and together they have three sons who continue to make him proud. His oldest son, Zach, graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Supply Chain Management. His middle son, Connor, attends Texas A&M University and plans to follow in his dad’s footsteps by becoming a veterinarian. His youngest son, Jacob, is studying engineering at Texas A&M University.

The Sullivan household also includes two feline supervisors. Willow is the definition of a laid-back cat; she graciously allows affection whenever she’s in the mood. Tux, on the other hand, is convinced his life’s purpose is to keep Willow on her toes by antagonizing her whenever possible. Somehow, they make it work.

In his free time, he likes to…wait, he doesn’t have any free time. On those rare occasions when he actually has free time, you’d probably find him spending time with his family, working out, fishing, playing a little poker, or cheering on the Aggies, Baylor Bears, and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Dr. Danielle Dougherty, DVM

Dr. Danielle Dougherty, DVM

Veterinarian

Hi! I’m Dr. Danielle Dougherty. Everyone calls me Dr. D!  I graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary  Medicine in May 2016 and did my clinical year at the University of Florida. I’m originally from PA and moved to Houston about 4 years ago with my husband.

I love working on cats and dogs, and I have a passion for dentistry, oral surgery, and soft tissue surgery. I have a special passion for exotic medicine! I enjoy working with reptiles, amphibians, birds, and invertebrates; however, I am not able to see any primates (non-human nor human), venomous animals (except for poison dart frogs), and/or zoo animals.

I have a plethora of exotic animals, 2 cats (Binx and French), and 2 dogs (Lucy- a mix breed and Padfoot an Irish Wolfhound). I love taking my dogs hiking and camping with my husband!

Dr. Lopez

Dr. Lopez

AssociateVeterinarian

Hi, I’m Dr. Lopez. I grew up in Cypress, Texas, and spent eight years in College Station completing both my undergraduate degree and veterinary school at Texas A&M University. Becoming a veterinarian has been a lifelong dream, and I feel truly honored to care for animals while supporting the families who love them.

I’m passionate about building lasting relationships with my patients and their families—being there for every stage of a pet’s life, from the joyful beginnings to the moments when they need extra care. I also hope to connect more deeply with the Hispanic community as I continue to improve my Spanish. Hablo un poco de español y me encantaría ayudarle con el cuidado de su mascota.

Outside the clinic, you can usually find me with a good book in hand or watching crime documentaries. I also love spending time outdoors with my two Australian Shepherds, Ryder and Skylar, who keep life exciting and full of energy.
