Some of the signs that your pet may need urgent medical attention include:
- Difficulty breathing
- Ingestion of a toxic substance or foreign object
- Broken bones
- Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
- Vomiting or diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours
- Bleeding
- Trauma, such as from a fall or being hit by a car
- Swollen or tender abdomen
- Difficulty urinating
- Lameness
- Disorientation
- Foaming at the mouth
- Convulsions/seizures

If you notice any of these signs, seek help right away. At Red Bluff Animal Hospital, we always recommend calling ahead when an emergency occurs. This allows us to assess the situation, provide first aid instructions and prepare for your pet’s arrival. Of course, should the nature of your pet’s emergency be too urgent for a phone call, don’t hesitate to come directly in for immediate attention.
Should your pet’s emergency occur when our clinic is closed, please seek support from VCA Animal Emergency Hospital Southeast. They are a fully staffed emergency center for after-hours, weekend, and holiday care.
We genuinely hope you never experience the need for emergency veterinary care. If you do, however, we want you to know who to call. The team at Red Bluff Animal Hospital will be here to provide the highest level of care available.
